Hamzah Sheeraz (20-0, 16 KOs) overpowered Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams (16-1, 11 KOs), stopping him in the eleventh round in a WBC middleweight title eliminator on Saturday night at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Williams started the fight well, shaking the 6’3″ Hamzah to his boots with a left hand straight down the pipe in the opening round. Sheeraz’ legs disappeared from that shots, and he was forced to hold on.
Sheeraz did a great job of controlling the shorter 6’0″ Ammo Williams with his jab and right hands to batter him from the second round on.
At the end of the tenth round, Sheeraz caught Williams with a right hand to the head to put him down hard on the canvas. Williams got up at the count of seven and looked in bad shape. The round ended at that point.
At the start of the eleventh, Sheeraz connected with a right to the head of Ammo Williams, causing him to stumble and almost fall. The referee then stepped and stopped the contest. The time was at :45 of round eleventh.
The victory for Sheeraz, the team captain for Queensberry, puts them up 6-0 against Matchroom in the 5 vs. 5 event.
