IBF World Welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis defended for the first time, returning after a year to the delight of his home crowd, stopping former WBA Welterweight champion David Avanesyan at the end of the fifth round on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Avanesyan’s corner didn’t allow him to come out for the sixth round.

In the Main Event, IBF World Welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, 32-0 (29), stopped former WBA Welterweight champion David Avanesyan, 30-5-1 (18), after five rounds of a scheduled 12 rounds.

In the first round, it was all Ennis, turning southpaw midway. With a minute remaining, Avanesyan pulled Ennis’s head down as Ennis was throwing a punch, forcing it to go low and dropping Avanesyan. He had time to recover.

In the second round, Avanesyan came back to make a fight of it, though not winning the round. In the third round, Ennis hurt Avanesyan’s body in a competitive round.

In the fourth round, Ennis again won the round, out-landing a game Avanesyan.

In the fifth round, at the final minute, Avanesyan landed a punch and was countered with a left out of southpaw by Ennis. He went down for an 8-count from referee Eric Dali. Looking to do better than Crawford did, stopping him in six, Ennis let it all hang out. Between rounds, the corner of Avanesyan called a halt.

2020 Olympian, WBC World Female Featherweight champ southpaw Skye Nicholson, 11-0 (1), defeated Dyana ‘La Maquina’ Vargas, 19-2 (12), winning all 10 rounds.

In the first four rounds, Nicholson countered the aggressive Vargas to take the rounds. In the fifth round, in the final seconds, Nicholson rocked Vargas with a pair of lefts on the chin, shaking her.

In the sixth through the ninth rounds Vargas was taking a beating but still coming forward and trying. In the tenth and final round Nicholson continued winning all rounds and started showboating in the final minute.

The referee was Shawn Clark. The scores were all 100-90, as was KH.

In the co-feature Welterweight Jalil Major Hackett, 9-0 (7) defeated ‘Pistol’ Pete Dobson, 16-2 (9) for WBA Continental America title, over 10 rounds.

In the first round Hackett came in with a big amateur record meeting his first live opponent in the pro’s not going past four rounds controlled until the final minute when Dobson got in his best punch, but Hackett came back taking the round.

In the next two rounds Hackett controlled in close rounds. In the fourth round Hackett had dobson in trouble hurting him throughout. Between rounds Referee Harvey Dock checked Dobsons corner.

In the fifth round, Dobson had a lump on the left side of his face from a Hackett’s elbow. In the seventh, Dobson did enough to win his first round. Hackett’s face showed some swelling.

In the tenth and final round, both had their moments, and their faces showed swelling, with Dobson coming back with too little, too late.

The Scores were 97-93 twice and 96-94.

Khalil Coe, 9-0-1 (7), stopped Kwane Ritter, 11-2 (9), at 1:59 of the second round of a scheduled 10 rounds for the vacant WBC USA Light Heavyweight title.

In the second round, Coe dropped Ritter with a flurry of punches, causing Referee Ricky Gonzalez to call a halt.

Super Featherweight Christopher ‘Pitufo’ Diaz-Velez, 29-4 (19) stopped Derlyn ‘El Coyote’ Hernandez, 12-2-1 (10) in the second round of a scheduled 8 rounds.

Bantamweight Christian Carto, 23-1 (16) stopped Carlos ‘Chocorroncito’ Buitrago, 38-14-1 (22) after 3 rounds of a scheduled 8 rounds.

Bantamweight southpaw Dennis Thompson, 1-0 (0) defeated Fernando Joaquin Valdez, 1-8 (0) over four rounds.
All scores 40-36.

Super Lightweight southpaw Ismail Muhammad, 5-0 (3) defeated Frank Brown, 3-5-2 (1) over 6 rounds.

The Scores were 58-54 twice and 57-55.
