Janibek defends his IBF middleweight title, Nick Ball fights in Liverpool, plus more!

Tuesday, Oct. 1

TrillerTV+, 8:00 pm ET, CountryBox: Where Music Meets Boxing. The boxing is the boxing. The music is Neon Union.

Friday, Oct. 4

ESPN+, 5:00 am ET, Janibek Alimkhanuly vs Andrei Mikhailovich. For Janibek’s IBF middleweight title, but not the WBO. This is a very quick turnaround, getting bought at purse bid 31 days before fight night and announced only slightly more than two weeks ago. It was originally set for July, but wound up canceled when Janibek was hospitalized for dehydration trying to make weight. The IBF rules say they may or may not enforce their same-day weight check rule at their discretion, and that could be a factor if Janibek really is struggling to make 160 lbs. BLH will have live updates

DAZN, 2:00 pm ET, Muhammad Waseem vs Sabelo Cebekhulu. A Block One Sports show out of Malta. Waseem lost a flyweight title fight to Sunny Edwards his last time out, and now jumps two levels to 118 lbs. Cebekhulu fights outside of his native South Africa for the first time. Undercard includes Olivia Hussey (not the one from the Romeo & Juliet film you probably watched in high school English class) and Steve Martin (not the one with the arrow through his head).

DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Red Owl Boxing. Quinton Randall vs Janelson Bocachica is your main event. Not a bad matchup for these shows, if you’re at all keen to join Shawn Porter and an open-collared Corey Erdman for some Friday night boxing out of Houston, Texas.

Saturday, Oct. 5

TNT Sports (UK), 2:00 pm ET, Nick Ball vs Ronny Rios. Nice little featherweight main event in Liverpool for Ball’s WBA title. Ball fights for the 4th time in 12 months, having beaten Isaac Dogboe and Ray Ford, and drawn with Rey Vargas in that time. Rios came back from an almost two year long layoff with a knockout win on ProBox back in April, and brings a toughness and style that makes this a potential action fight. No American television announced or expected, which is unfortunate and disappointing.

TrillerTV, 6:00 pm ET, River City Promotions. From the Shriners Center in Richmond, Virginia, and hopefully ring walks are made in those fun little mini parade cars. Your main event per TrillerTV is a 4×2 where the A-side is Carmen Gulliksen, a 48 year old with a professional record of 1-0, no knockouts. Franchon Crews-Dezurn’s husband is listed on the undercard.
