Pacheco, 23, is a diamond in the rough and needs more time before he’s ready to challenge Canelo Alvarez for his super middleweight titles. Promoter Eddie Hearn says he wants to see Pacheco “slice through Sulecki like a knife through butter” to show that he’s ready to be advanced against tougher competition, like #1 WBC-ranked Christian Mbilli or Jaime Munguia.
Sulecko is being brought in as the B-side opponent and has other ideas. He wants to defeat Pacheco and move his career forward to land a big fight against Canelo, which would be a massive turnaround at this point in his 14-year career.
Undercard Highlight: ‘Sugar’ Nunez vs. Marriaga
In the undercard tonight, the all-action super featherweight contender Eduardo ‘Sugar’ Nunez (27-1, 27 KOs) battles former world title challenger Miguel Marriaga (31-7, 25 KOs) in a ten-round contest.
This fight has knockout written all over it, and its going to be interesting to see how ‘Sugar’ Nunez holds up under the hard shots from the 37-year-old Marriaga. The Colombian Marriaga had Oscar Valdez hurt in their fight in 2017, and some believe the Mexican fighter hasn’t been the same fighter since.
