Brayan Leon, the 6-0 (6 KOs) super middleweight prospect, made such a positive impression while sparring Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last year that the Mexican’s trainer, Eddy Reynoso, invited the Cuban to join his stable.

“I am very excited to be working with Brayan,” said Reynoso, who watched closely as the 22-year-old put the super middleweight champion through his paces ahead of his defense against Edgar Berlanga. “He’s a special talent that is the total package. He has speed and extraordinary power and can fight on the inside or out. Most important, his ring IQ is off the charts.”

Leon made his Team Reynoso debut last weekend, knocking out Alan Flores Olivas in two rounds in Tijuana. He is set to join Canelo again on Monday at the Mexican’s training camp in Tahoe. Naturally, Leon is eager to make his own name.

“I know I will make my mark in boxing,” Leon said. “I not only want to win a world title, but I have always dreamt of becoming a superstar – ever since I was a child in Cuba. I always dreamed of this and now it is on me to make my dream a reality.”

Leon’s adviser and long-time boxing attorney, Tony Gonzalez, added: “You cannot measure the value of what Brayan is receiving from training next to and with two of the greats of our sport in both Reynoso and Canelo. This is greatly underestimated but I certainly do not. The obvious benefit he will gain from just the visibility of being in Reynoso and Canelo’s stable is a blessing for this young man.”
