The December 7 bout between Souleymane Cissokho and Egidijus Kavaliauskas has been postponed after Cissokho broke his hand in sparring.
Boxium Promotions made the announcement today that the bout, scheduled for Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, will be postponed.
In statement, the promotional outfit said: “Following medical advice, it was determined that Souleymane cannot compete at his best. The health and safety of our athletes remain our top priority. We wish Souleymane a speedy recovery and will announce a new date for the fight soon.”
The bout was being billed as a WBC eliminator at welterweight.
Frenchman Cissoko, and Olympic gold medallist from Rio 2016, is 17-0 (9), while veteran 36-year-old Kavaliauskas – dubbed Mean Machine – is 24-2-1 (19 KOs).
