In front of his raucous Barnsley fans, Callum Simpson made weight at the first time of asking ahead of his British and Commonwealth defense against Steed Woodall.
In fact, there were no issues with any of the fighters making weight, although Caroline Dubois, the WBC lightweight titleholder making her first defense, had to try to push challenger Jessica Camara off to stop her coming too close in their posed head-to-head for the cameras.
“It’s a dream come true,” said Simpson ahead of his fight at the top of the bill in Sheffield, England. “My mindset’s always the same – to become the best I can become. I’m nowhere near the finished product. These are just belts I’ve got now. I’m going to push on for bigger titles. I’m happy but not complacent.”
