Callum Walsh will be back in the top slot in New York City this March, continuing an annual tradition of boxing taking place in the Big Apple on or around St. Patrick’s Day and the city’s annual parade.

Walsh’s promoter, Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions, had mentioned the plan in an interview weeks ago. Now he’s confirmed it: Walsh will fight on Sunday, March 16 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. No opponent has been selected yet.

“For everyone coming in for the parade, they’ll be able to come see Callum Walsh on Sunday and then go to the parade on Monday,” Loeffler said in an interview with Randy Gordon and Gerry Cooney, the hosts of At the Fights on SiriusXM.

Walsh, a 23-year-old junior middleweight prospect from Cork, Ireland, is 12-0 (10 KOs) and coming off a second-round knockout of the 22-2-1 Przemyslaw Runowski in September. Walsh lives these days in Hollywood, where he is trained by Freddie Roach.

This will be Walsh’s fourth St. Patrick’s Day fight overall, and his third appearance at Madison Square Garden’s small room.

Walsh turned pro in December 2021 and had his second bout on St. Patrick’s Day in 2022, though that was deep on the undercard of a show in Montebello, California.

On the day before St. Patrick’s Day in 2023, Walsh performed in a main event in the much more fitting locale of Boston, Massachusetts, defeating Wesley Tucker. He headlined at the Theater at Madison Square Garden for a pair of victories over Ismael Villarreal in November 2023 and over Dauren Yeleussinov two days before St. Patrick’s Day in March 2024.

“We just want to keep Callum busy, want to keep him learning,” Loeffler said. “He’s young, only 23 years old, but he’s making big waves as a young star in boxing.”
