Canelo Alvarez shut down media attempts to get a reaction out of him when asked about his thoughts on Terence Crawford’s call-out last Saturday night after his win over Edgar Berlanga. When asked about his opinion, Canelo said, “No comment.”

Canelo’s tone was unmistakable. He has no interest in fighting Crawford and will not change his mind unless his $150 million price is met. He won’t fight Crawford without that $150M given to him.

It’s widely believed that Crawford is utterly desperate for the fight against Canelo, which would be a massive payday for Bud to help his retirement years with bumming around money.

After unified super middleweight champion Canelo’s one-sided 12-round unanimous decision over previously uneaten Berlanga (22-1, 17 KOs), Crawford and His Excellency Turki Alalshikh went live on Instagram. Crawford then called out Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs), which went nowhere with the Mexican star.

Crawford needs to start thinking about a plan B option if he’s going to continue his career because it’s pointless for him to hold out, hoping Canelo will give him the fight he doesn’t deserve. Narrowly beating Israil Madrimov is not a good enough victory for Crawford to meet with King Canelo.

Crawford may not like it, but he needs to bite the bullet and face Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis because that is his best option for good money in a potentially winnable fight. There isn’t anyone at 154 that the fans want to see Crawford fight as much as they do with Boots.

If Crawford won’t let go of his shallow dreams of a fight against Canelo, he needs to show insane courage by moving up in weight and fighting one of ‘The Big Four’:

– David Benavidez
– Artur Beterbiev
– Dmitry Bivol
– David Morrell

It’s not asking a lot of Crawford for him to fight one or two of those fighters to maneuver himself into position for a fight against Canelo.

Right now, Crawford is still fighting two divisions below Canelo and is coming off a lackluster performance in a fight that he came close to losing in his debut at 154 against Madrimov. If Crawford moves up to 168 or 175 and beats ‘The Big Four,’ he’ll be in the catbird seat to get that retirement check from a fight against Canelo.
