Junior lightweight Carlos De Leon Castro recorded a first-round knockout of Jose Alfredo Guevara at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Saturday night in front his hometown fans and broadcast on DAZN.

De Leon Castro, 3-0, (2 KOs), forced the referee to stop the scheduled four-round bout in the opening round after landing a left hook and a straight right combo to the head of Guevara, 2-3-1 (1 KO).

“Fighting in my hometown of San Juan, in front of my family, friends and supporters, was an unforgettable experience,” said De Leon Castro after the fight. “Hearing the crowd roar after the knockout was a moment I’ll cherish forever.

“Fighting on DAZN allows me to show the world my skills. It’s an honor to represent Puerto Rico on such a big platform and prove why I’m one of the sport’s top young fighters.”

The win lifted De Leon Castro, who made his debut in June, to 3-0 this year. He says he will be looking for a breakout in 2025.

“This is just the beginning,” De Leon Castor said. “In 2025, I’m planning to stay busy, keep improving and work my way toward bigger fights. My goal is to become a world champion and bring pride to Puerto Rico.”

Amaury Piedra, president of Boxlab Promotions, has similar thoughts in mind for De Leon Castor.

“His poise, power, and precision were on full display,” Piedra said of De Leon Castor in the Guevara win. “In 2025, we’ll continue to develop him, taking on tougher challenges as we move closer to title contention.”
