South Korea’s Bo Mi Re Shin has been confirmed as the challenger to the WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois on March 7.
The 30 year old is the number-one contender with the WBC, and will therefore travel to London to fight Dubois on the undercard of Natasha Jonas-Lauren Price at the Royal Albert Hall.
“I’m excited to defend my WBC world title against Bo Mi Re Shin,” the champion said. “I think she is going to be a tough challenge, but I believe I’m levels above.
“I’m excited to be a part of such an incredible show. Women’s boxing is rocking at the moment. It’s doing amazing. It’s proven time and time again that it’s here and it’s here to stay.”
Dubois had made little secret of her desire to fight Terri Harper, but Shin said: “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to challenge Caroline Dubois for the WBC world title. I am world number one for a reason, and I have earned my chance. I have been preparing for Caroline for two years since I first heard of a potential fight with her.”
Boxxer’s Ben Shalom, the promoter of Jonas-Price, has told BoxingScene he also expects to confirm fights involving Savannah Marshall and Francesca Hennessy on the all-female bill.
