John Riel Casimero fights Saul Sanchez, while Hiroto Kyoguchi meets Vince Paras in a rubber match
Former bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero and former unified light flyweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi will be in action on fighter-turned-promoter Masayuki Ito’s next show on October 13th.
Casimero (33-4-1, 22 KO) gets top billing for his super bantamweight showdown with Saul Sanchez (21-3, 12 KO). “Quadro Allas” is 2-0-1 since edging out Guillermo Rigondeaux in an all-time stinker and subsequently losing his title after two straight weigh-in debacles, defeating Ryo Akaho and Fillipus Nghitumbwa before a headbutt-induced technical draw with Yukinori Oguni.
Sanchez is best known for last January’s slugfest with Jason Moloney. He’s made a couple forays up to 122, but he’s definitely better-suited to 118, though he’ll admittedly have height and reach advantages over Casimero.
Kyoguchi (18-2, 12 KO) followed up his unsuccessful unification bout against Kenshiro Teraji by winning two straight at 112, only to drop a shock decision to Vince Paras (21-2-1, 15 KO) in last May’s rematch. They’re now set for a rubber match.
Also on tap is a clash between Oguni and Nghitumbwa, plus the latest from mformer minimumweight champ Masataka Taniguchi.
