Cruz out-landed Fierro 142-113 over the first five rounds. Fierro found his range, and came on over the last five rounds, out-landing Cruz 132-106. Fierro’s second half rally was all the more impressive because Cruz landed 99 body punches to Fierro’s 40. Fierro anded 238 punches against Cruz- the most in a fight tracked by CompuBox. The previous high was 153. The judges scored the fight 96-94, 97-93, and 98-92- all for Cruz.
