The rematch came to a sudden hand twelve seconds into the sixth round after Espinoza landed a right hand on Ramirez’s right eye, and Ramirez turned his back to Espinoza, complaining about double vision to the referee. Up to that point, Ramirez had succeeded in stymieing Espinoza’s offensive output to the tune of 53 punches thrown per round after Espinoza averaged 81 punches thrown over the first five rounds of their first fight. Ramirez landed 20 body punches over the first three rounds, but only 4 over rounds four and five. The fourth and fifth rounds were Espinoza’s best in terms of punch output. After the fight, Ramirez claimed that he was hit in the
eye by a Ramirez elbow in the fourth round.
