Rolando Romero halted a recent slide by going back to basics and minimizing his risk-taking to earn a unanimous decision win over Manuel Jaimes on the undercard of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez-Edgar Berlanga on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
There was a lot of swinging and missing, as Romero landed 28 percent of his total punches and Jaimes landed 25 percent of his own. Romero was more accurate with his power punches, landing at a 35 percent rate, which seemed to be enough to convince the judges, all of whom scored the fight 99-91 in his favor.
