Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn believes Terence Crawford will never fight again unless he’s given the Canelo Alvarez fight.

Hearn reiterates that the four-division world champion Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) only wants fights that will pay him an “absolute fortune. ” The only one who can do that is the Mexican mega-superstar Canelo.

A Spoiled Fighter’s Stance

In other words, the 36-year-old Crawford is spoiled at this stage of his 16-year career and is going to mess things up for himself by stubbornly insisting on a fight that is out of his reach. It’s just a classic example of a fighter that is hopelessly spoiled rotten to the point where they have a sense of entitlement, and they can’t handle it when someone says ‘No’ to them.

He could get it if he moved up to 168 and beat David Benavidez, David Morrell, and Christian Mbilli. However, those guys are too big, young, and talented for Crawford. He wants the Canelo fight given to him on a silver platter based on his narrow win over Israil Madrimov. Unfortunately for Crawford, that’s not happening.

Hearn states that Crawford will not fight any of these fighters:

– Israil Madrimov: rematch
– Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis
– Vergil Ortiz Jr.
– Sebastian Fundora

The Unrealistic Dream of a Canelo Fight

“I don’t think Crawford will fight again unless it’s Canelo Alvarez. I don’t think he’ll fight Vergil Ortiz, and he won’t rematch [Israil] Madrimov. He definitely won’t fight Boots. So, who are you going to fight? I don’t think he’ll fight Fundora,” said Eddie Hearn to K.O. Artist Sports about Terence Crawford being finished in the sport.

Crawford could make so much money in fights against Vergvil Ortiz, Boots, Madrimov, and Fundora. It wouldn’t, obviously, be in the same league as what he would receive fighting Canelo, but he’s not getting that fight because the Mexican star isn’t interested in fighting him unless he’s paid a gigantic pile of cash.

“He’s made a lot of money, and he’s not interested in fights that will pay him an absolute fortune or get him really excited and the one that’s excited in his mind is Canelo,” Hearn continued about Crawford. “If he can’t get that fight, I don’t think he’ll fight again.”

Canelo’s Unstoppable Money Machine

Canelo has a reported net worth of $250 million, and the way he’s heading, he could wind up with half a billion before he retires. He doesn’t need Crawford to keep the money rolling in. Canelo is like the Spindletop oil well in Texas, which started the oil boom in that state in 1901. Alvarez will keep faithfully pumping in that dough no matter who he faces, and he doesn’t need fighters like Crawford unless the match pays.
