Junior lightweight Curmel Moton returns to action against seasoned veteran Albert Pagara on December 30 in Japan.

The bout will take place as part of the Ryan Garcia-Rukiya Anpo undercard, scheduled to air at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT) on Monday, Dec. 30.

Moton, 18, will face Pagara in an eight-round junior welterweight fight. Moton, a protege of Floyd Mayweather, holds a record of 6-0 (5 KOs) and is riding a three-fight knockout streak. His year has been busy, with this marking his fifth fight of 2024. Originally slated to compete last Friday in Atlantic City on Danny Garcia’s Swift Promotions card, Moton was forced to withdraw after coming in 15 lbs over the agreed weight limit, citing licensing issues that disrupted his preparation to make weight.

Pagara, 30, enters the fight with a record of 35-1 (24 KOs). The Filipino fighter Pagara has not lost since a 2016 stoppage by Cesar Juarez in San Mateo, California. Since then, Pagara has won nine consecutive fights but has been largely inactive, with only three fights since 2020. His last outing, a majority decision win over Aketelieti Yelejian in June, followed a November 2022 bout, marking two of just three fights this decade. Once a junior featherweight, Pagara has transitioned to junior welterweight catchweight bouts since 2022.

The undercard will also feature a rematch between Amado Vargas, with a record of 11-0 (5 KOs), son of Fernando Vargas, and Sean Garcia, holding a record of 7-1-1 (2 KOs), Ryan Garcia’s younger brother. Vargas stopped Garcia in the sixth round of their first meeting in July.

The event, promoted by RIZIN and FANMIO, will also include two professional MMA bouts, fans can watch the card live on Fanmio pay-per-view.
