Former world champion David Haye predicts that Oleksandr Usyk will win on Saturday against Tyson Fury but he’s not sure if the judges will give him the victory in their heavyweight championship fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury’s Southpaw Struggles

Haye notes that WBC champion Fury has had problems fighting southpaws in the past, and he’s now facing one of the best-ever heavyweight southpaws in IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

Haye mentions that Fury had problems in his last fight when Francis Ngannou turned southpaw and looked clueless.

That was against a fighter who had never boxed before. Haye also mentions that Fury had huge issues in his clash against the southpaw Otto Wallin, who backed him up against the ropes and worked him over in a close fight.

Haye’s Prediction and Concerns

“I do think Uysk is going to win. Whether he gets the decision or not is a different matter,” said David Haye to BoxNation, picking Oleksandr Usyk to defeat Tyson Fury. “I thought Ngannou beat Tyson Fury. If Ngannou can beat Tyson Fury in a ten-round fight, then Usyk can beat Tyson Fury.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Fury won a controversial decision if he’s victorious against Usyk in a robbery. Fury’s last fight against Ngannou was controversial, as was his match against John McDermott.

Of course, we all saw the first and third fights with Deontay Wilder, who appeared to knock Fury out, but the referees didn’t stop the fights. There are many questions about why Fury’s fight with Wallin wasn’t stopped after he received a bad cut in round two.

Fans believe that if Fury wasn’t popular, the referee would have stopped the fight and Wallin would have won.

“I’m sure Tyson is going to be in significantly better shape this time than last time. But the reality is I watched somebody have their first ever boxing match and beat him in my scorecard and many people’s scorecards.

Haye’s Doubts About Fury’s Boxing Skills

“Also the fact that Tyson Fury doesn’t appear to enjoy the southpaw style. Otto Wallin was able to have loads of success pushing him against the ropes and cut his eye badly. Tyson also got cut in sparring in February,’ said Haye.

“Even when Ngannou turned southpaw, Tyson had no answers. He’s supposed to be the significantly better boxer, but he couldn’t figure him out. I think it’s the southpaw style, and now he’s fighting one of the greatest ever heavyweight southpaws,” said Haye.
