Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney, says he wants Ryan Garcia out of boxing due to his positive test for the banned PED, Ostarine, from his win last April.
Interestingly, Bill wants Ryan completely out of the sport, which means Haney (31-1, 15 KOs) won’t get a chance to avenge his loss and pick up the biggest payday possible.
The defeat will stay in fans’ minds forever unless Haney avenges it. Of course, if Bill isn’t confident that his son can win, it’s understandable why he would want to campaign to get Ryan out of the sport.
The New York State Atletic Commission still needs to meet to decide whether to suspend, ban, or clear superstar Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs).
Ryan’s team revealed that they took a hair sample that returned negative. So, the New York Commission could potentially clear Ryan if they feel the hair follicle test proved his innocence.
Haney would have to move on and live with that loss on his record. Even if it were removed, the defeat would still be there, and his career would be just as tarnished regardless. Ryan exposed Haney for having a fragile chin and zero punching power.
Having the defeat removed by the New York Commission does nothing to change what fans saw. Moreover, Haney will be just as much over his head when he gets in with another puncher and gets blown out.
“He says he loves steroids, and he takes steroids, and he’s taking Ostarine. There’s nothing you can do with this guy but get him out of the sport,” said Bill Haney to TMZ Sports, talking about Ryan Garcia, who trounced his son, Devin Haney, in a one-sided 12-round beatdown last April.
“I feel undermined to sign up to do this and for him to make a mockery of the sport. Ryan violated every known rule of conduct. He said he bet on the fight, but openly knowing he was cheating. So, he was cheating and betting.
“He shouldn’t have had the Ostarine in his system at all, and he did,” said Bill.
Bill doesn’t have the chin or the power to fight at a high level in the sport, and the only reason he’s gone this far is the strategic match-making.
Haney’s best wins were against these guys:
– George Kambosos Jr
– Regis Prograis
– Vasily Lomachenko
– Jorge Linares
– Joseph Diaz Jr
– Yuriorkis Gamboa
