Retired former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew crashed the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson final press conference on Wednesday, offering him an opponent for his next fight after Friday night’s clash with the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion.
Accompanied by an older person named ‘Norman,’ who was wearing gloves, Bellew interrupted the Paul-Tyson press conference to offer the 27-year-old Jake Paul a “grandfather” for him to fight next if Tyson allows him to “survive.”
It’s unclear whether Bellew got a microphone for him to speak during the press conference. It looked like a cheap one that he bought at a local store. The MC of the press conference, Ariel Helwani, asked if Bellew had purchased the microphone from Fisher-Price, a toy store. It looked like a toy, but he was still able to make himself heard using it.
Bellew Kicked Out Of Press Conference
The 41-year-old Bellew, who retired in 2018, was quickly escorted out of the press conference by a team of beefy security personnel. They wouldn’t allow him to continue to shame Jake Paul for the spectacle he’s created by pulling the grandfatherly fossil Tyson out of mothballs to return to the ring so he can make money fighting him.
Fans on social media would have liked for Bellew to get in a fistfight with the security that kicked him out of the press conference because that would have paid as much attention as Jake’s fight against Tyson.
Bellew missed his chance by not calling out Jake for a fight, which is a fight that fans would be interested in seeing. He’s not as old as Mike Tyson, and he’s only been retired for six years rather than 19. That probably ruled Bellew out as a potential opponent for Jake, who is very cunning in the type of opposition he’s faced during his four-year professional career.
Tony Bellew: “The biggest clown in boxing. If Mike lets you survive, I’ve got your next opponent for you, Jake. It is Tony Bellew, Ariel [Helwani]. If Mike lets him survive on Saturday night, I got a great-grandfather. This guy is ready for you.”
“Jake Paul is fighting a grandfather, and if he loses to a grandfather, I’ve got a comeback opponent. I’ve got Norman. He’s got two new hips. He’s the champion of the care home. Jake is going down that path. He needs to fight someone like Norman,” said Bellew to iFL TV.
