In a battle of unbeaten fighters, Diego Pacheco, 22-0 (8), will defend a couple of meaningless super middleweight titles – the USWBC and WBO international, for what it’s worth – against Steven Nelson, 20-0 (16), at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, it was announced today.
Also on the same bill Cuban Olympic star Andy Cruz, 4-0 (2) will fight Mexico’s Omar Salcido, 20-1 (14), and Pomona’s Ernesto Mercado, 16-0 (15), will face Jose Pedraza, 29-6-1 (14).
Pacheco, a 23-year-old from California, is considered one of boxing’s hottest prospects and has this year beaten both Shawn McCalman (UD 10) and Maciej Sulecki (KO 6). Nelson, on the other hand, is 13 years Pacheco’s senior and was last seen stopping Marcos Vazquez Rodriguez inside five rounds.
