WBA welterweight champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) says he’s ready to “take down” IBF champ Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) in their unification fight three months from now on Saturday, April 12th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ennis vs. Stanionis was announced today and will be shown live on DAZN.

The Latvian native Stanionis will gauge whether Boots Ennis is just another pretender whose promoters made a mistake signing. He’s got to start showing that he’s the next big thing because right now, many people believe that he’s not what they thought.

Ennis, 27, has not looked good since Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn signed him. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets by Stanionis in the first of three unification fights that Bootwin to becomeof becoming the undisputed champion at 147.

He wants to follow in Terence Crawford’s footsteps by becoming a four-belt champion. Stanionis wants to ruin Boots’ vision by beating him and going after the other belts for himself.

Jaron Ennis: “This is the fight I’ve been waiting for. I believe I was made for moments like this, and on April 12, I will be making a big statement, and you will see the very best of me. It’s time to shine, be great, and collect those belts.”

Eimantas Stanionis: “This is the moment I’ve been envisioning my entire life. Every sacrifice, every ounce of sweat, it’s all been for this fight. Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is a great fighter, but I’m ready to take him down.”

Hopefully, Boots doesn’t fall on his face in this fight and get exposed by Stanionis because, after his recent fight against Karen Chukhadzhian on November 9th, there are a lot of doubters out there who are beginning to suspect that he’s a hype job.

“I got what I wanted, and that’s all that matters,” said Jaron Ennis to YSM Sports Media, talking about the news of his fight against Eimantas being announced today for April 12th. “This year is about me getting what I want, and I’m excited. I’m ready.

“He’s a great fighter, a good fighter. It’s that time. It’s time for me to make my mark and step on it. Y’all going to see come fight night. I’m not going to say too much. Like I said, he’s a good fighter, but come April 12th, I will have all those belts around me.

“Honestly, nothing,” said Boots when asked what Stanionis brings to the table that makes this a difficult fight. “He comes forward, throws a lot of punches, and that’s about it. None of that is going to affect me. I’m going to be ready. You got to stay tuned. You don’t want to miss it. It’s going to be a beautiful show by me. I’m going to shine.

“Like I said, this is what I wanted. Fighting for another belt, this is all I needed,” said Ennis.
