VERONA, New York – Eric Tudor scored a highlight-reel body-punch KO of Roddricus Livsey on Friday at the Turning Stone Resort Casino.
Tudor, now 11-1 (7 KOs), started brightly behind his jab, throwing singles and doubles, and followed in with sharp right hands, with several finding their mark. Livsey was finding it hard to cope with the hand speed, and Tudor had a poised and balanced look.
He impressively picked away with the jab and then lashed a right hand into Livsey’s side, and the Atlanta man wilted. He was counted out on his knees but had to stay there for a minute or so before being helped onto a stool. That was a vicious body shot.
It was called off after just 2:19.
Livesy is now 12-3-1 (9 KOs).
For those who like emphatic one-punch finishes, look up the right-hand scorcher that Mykquan Williams detonated flush into the face of poor Willmank Canonico Brito for a third-round KO win.
Williams, coming off an impressive win over previously undefeated Luis Feliciano, started sharply, slotting in right hands to the head and body, and making room for counters.
Brito tried to keep Williams off with a sharp right hook to commence the second, but Connecticut’s Williams has been around and has some veteran skills. He also thudded home a left to the body and was the fighter producing the quality work.
In the third, Williams feinted and feinted, exploring for openings, and when Brito stopped biting and stayed there Williams fired in a right hand that sent Brito lurching into the ropes. Williams had a good spell on top, but as he followed in, he found himself on the deck. Referee Mark Nelson, however, ruled it a slip – even though Brito celebrated.
The thunderous end came shortly afterwards and arrived courtesy of a battering-ram right hand that sent Brito down and out, hard. And although Brito stumbled to his feet, the referee waved it off. It was a stunning knockout, and Williams is a man in form.
Time was 2:57 of the third.
Mexico’s Brito, fighting out of Plant City, Florida, lost for the fifth time on the spin.
East Hartford, Connecticut’s Williams is a problem and is now 21-0-2 (10 KOs). Brito is 12-6-2 (10 KOs).
In one of the most remarkable opening rounds you will see, David “Dynamite” Stevens survived an early explosion, was clinging on desperately, trying to stay upright, and then planted Argentina’s Sergio Lopez with a right hand.
Lopez plummeted face-first, and although he made it back to his feet, he was cut by the right eye and Stevens followed in, caught Lopez again, and referee Charlie Fitch waved it off as Lopez dropped face-first once more.
That was a hugely dramatic 133 seconds. Wow.
Stevens (14-1, 10 KOs), from Reading, Pennsylvania, turned it around in astonishing fashion. Lopez is now 14-6 (10 KOs) and was on the brink of something sensational. As it turned out, he was on the wrong end of something sensational. It had been set for eight rounds.
