While almost all eyes were on Riyadh and the excellent 5 vs 5 show there were some interesting fights in Europe as well.
Saturday (June 1) action:
In Maria Enzsersdorf (Austria) Swedish light heavy Constantino Nanga (12-0) outscored local hero Bernardin Jakaj (16-1) over 10 in a non-title fight between two previously unbeaten fighters. It was scored 96-94 (twice) and 98-93. The Austrians were not too happy with the decision but it looked fair and Jakaj was shaken in the third and seventh.

In Jarvenpaa, Finland, Iceland’s one and only heavyweight Gunnar Kolbeinn Kristinsson (15-0) won the vacant BBU title by stopping Pavlo Krolenko (3-15-1) who didn’t come out for the sixth round). Kristinsson is a former sparring partner of Tyson Fury.
Krolenko was a very late sub for Mika Mielonen (8-1).

In Neuchatel, Switzerland, Albanian heavyweight Nelson Hysa (17-0) won the vacant IBO International title by stopping Colombian Jeison Troncoso (12-1) in the third.

Friday (May 31) action:
In Ta Qali, Malta, Steve Martin (19-6-2) outscored his former trainer Scott Dixon (40-13-4) in a local grudge fight for the vacant Maltese super middleweight title.
In Lyon, France, junior middle Michel Soro (36-4-2) knocked out Mexican Oziel Santoyo (16-4-1) with a left hook to the body in the second round.
This was Soro’s first win since 2019.
