If it wasn’t for bad luck French junior-middleweight veteran Michel Soro (35-4-2) wouldn’t have had any luck at all, at least not in the last few years. In 2022 he was stopped in the ninth round by Israel Madrimov (then 7-0) in a WBA eliminator. He was hurt against the ropes, the bell rang, the referee didn’t hear it, and Madrimov punched away forcing a stoppage.
A rematch was ordered which went ahead in September of 2022, and it ended in a technical draw after Soro had been badly cut after an accidental clash of heads.
Soro then fought Magomed Kurbanov (25-0) in Russia last year and wound up on the wrong end of a highly controversial split decision.
Soro will now come back on Friday (May 31) in Lyon (France) in a non-title 10-rounder against Mexican Oziel Santoyo (16-3-1) and a win is a must to stay on course for bigger things.
In the chief support, super welter Milan Prat (23-1) continues his resurrection after the devastating loss against Slawa Spomer last year. Prat is 3-0 since then and fights Venezuelan Victor Pinango (12-3).
