Former EBU super lightweight champion and two-time world title challenger Anthony Yigit (29-4-1, 10 KOs) has announced his retirement on social media.

Yigit will now concentrate on a career as a personal trainer and is also working on a script for a movie.

 

Anthony “Can You Dig It” Yigit fought in the Olympics 2012 and then turned pro with Team Sauerland’s Nordic Fight Night and won the EBU title in 2017 when he beat Lenny Daws and then defended the title against Joe Hughes and Sandor Martin. He was stopped by Ivan Baranchyk and Rolando Romero in world title fights and also lost to Keyshawn Davis and Denys Berinchyk.

Norwegian cruiser Kai Robin Havnaa (18-0, 15 KOs) has also packed it in. Havana broke his thumb in his last fight where he knocked out Egyptian Hany Atiyo January 28, 2023. The injury didn’t heal properly and now Kai Robin has decided to retire.

EBU featherweight champ Mauro Forte’s (20-0-2, 8 KOs) defense of the title against Spain’s Cristobal Lorente (18-0-1, 8 KOs) will now go ahead on July 11 in Tirana, Albania, with OPI since 82 promoting.

 

The fight was initially set for May 31.

Daniel Blenda Dos Santos (22-1, 10 KOs) won the vacant EBU light heavyweight title on June 15 with a unanimous decision over Thomas Faure (24-6-1, 2 KOs) in an all French matchup. The scores were 119-109, (twice) and 117-111.

 

Birmingham, England’s Shakan Pitters (19-2, 6 KOs) is mandatory challenger for Dos Santos’ belt.
