As he counts down to his rematch with Tomoki Kameda in Japan, South African contender Lerato Dlamini has re-signed with Colin Nathan’s No Doubt management company, in partnership with Boxing 5 promotions.
Dlamini, the IBF’s No. 2 featherweight, rematches Kameda on August 24 in Osaka, Japan, in a bout that was ordered by the IBF as an eliminator for the mandatory position.
“I’m happy, I’m happy as long as I am with Colin,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini, 20-2 (11 KOs), and Nathan have been together for eight years and have produced some outstanding results and now Nathan considers his fighter to be in his prime.
“Lerato has always shown his commitment and trust, along with tremendous loyalty,” Nathan said. “His work ethic is second to none and he always gives 100 per cent. I feel he is peaking in his career, and I have no question in my mind that he beats Kameda again and goes on to become world champion.”
Dlamini, 30, defeated Kameda via split decision in October 2023.
Thirty-three year old Kameda is 41-4 (23 KOs).
Recently, Boxing 5 added super-flyweight contender Sikho Nqotole, 18-3 (11 KOs), to their ranks and Boxing 5’s Larry Wainstein added: “It shows the character of Lerato and the trust he has for Colin and us, who have been his manager for so many years. He trusts his judgement and guidance, and look at what they have achieved together. He is now on the cusp of fighting for a world title. Lerato is a true professional, and the fighters who are starting out can learn from him.”
