Albert Gonzalez has knocked out his last four opponents
Days after battering Damian Alcala for his fourth consecutive finish, 22-year-old featherweight Albert “Chop Chop” Gonzlez has officially joined forces with Top Rank.
“I want to thank God, my team, and everyone who had something to do with getting this done. Although getting here has been a long road, this is only the beginning,” said Gonzalez. “And for those who are new to me, I hope you enjoy the ride. I have a fan-friendly style and always give the fans their money’s worth.”
Gonzalez (10-0, 6 KO), the latest Robert Garcia acolyte to hit the big stage, is almost three years into his professional career and passes the eye test so far. That said, he’s yet to graduate from six-rounders, so it’ll be a bit before we see him make big moves.
Top Rank really seems to have staked their claim at 126, signing not just top fighters like Rafael Espinoza, Robeisy Ramirez, Luis Alberto Lopez, and Otabek Kholmatov, but also up-and-comers like Gonzalez and Bruce Carrington. If and when Naoya Inoue arrives, the field will be ready for him.
