Coming up on June 1st from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, undefeated heavyweight contender Filip Hrgovic will square off against fellow contender and former title challenger Daniel Dubois.
This one was scheduled to appear as a part of the undercard for the battle of undisputed light heavyweight supremacy between undefeated champions Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev. That fight was postponed after Beterbiev suffered an injury, and Bivol is now slated to face replacement opponent Malik Zinad.
With the switch in opponent, the heavyweight showdown between Deontay Wilder and Big Bang Zhang has since been elevated to the main event, and the heavyweight clash between Hrgovic and Dubois is still on! With the undisputed heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Usyk scheduled for May 18th (just a couple of weeks before Hrgovic vs Dubois) and with the expected rematch between Fury and Usyk to follow later this year, that means that whatever happens in Fury vs Usyk, whoever holds the belt after their first fight is expected to be stripped by the IBF.
Each of these heavyweights was last seen in action back in December of last year on the Boxing Day or Reckoning card. Hrgovic won by a first round knockout against Mark De Mori, and Dubois scored a tenth round knockout against Jarrell Miller. The fight between Hrgovic and Dubois is significant, where the winner will secure the opportunity to become the IBF mandatory challenger, with a title shot looming in the very near future.
So who will win the upcoming heavyweight showdown between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois?
This edition of Rummy’s Corner will attempt to answer that question, while also providing a quick preview for the upcoming match between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois. Please watch and enjoy the video for one man’s opinion. This is Rummy’s Corner (produced and narrated by Geoffrey Ciani).
