A defiant Frank Martin is back in the gym training, looking to bounce back from his eighth-round knockout loss to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last month on June 15th in Las Vegas.

Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) looked good training on the heavy bag today, showing excellent power and nifty footwork.

Martin Needs to Change

Most would agree that 29-year-old Detroit, Michigan native Martin has to change his training method to capture a title before he ages out.

‘The Ghost’ Martin didn’t follow his trainer’s advice well during his fight against Tank Davis, resulting in his knockout in the eighth.

Keyshawn Davis has been pushing hard for a fight against Martin, talking in the media like it’s a match that has got to happen. For Keyshawn to talk as much as he is, he must be 100% certain that he beats Martin.

Keyshawn doesn’t talk like that when he’s not confident; hence, he wants no part in a fight against his four-time conqueror, Andy Cruz.

Martin has a chance of getting a quick world title shot against WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, who is needy and would jump at the chance of fighting him, if nothing else, to show the boxing public the difference between him and Tank.

Before Martin fights for another belt, he’s got to get better at following instructions given to him in the corner because his ring IQ is rudimentary, and he’ll get embarrassed by Shakur.

Losing to him would likely end any chance of Martin getting another world title shot before his career falls apart due to age and more talented young lions like Abdullah Mason passing him up.

Martin needs a high-level contender to fight when he returns to the ring to display his skills and show fans that he’s capable of following his corner’s instructions to the letter.
