Israil Madrimov lost a unanimous decision to Terence Crawford over the weekend.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn spent some time talking to boxing media about his thoughts on the results of Terence Crawford’s win over Israil Madrimov and his belief they were a bit hard done by on the scorecards. Hearn also weighs in on Canelo’s choice to fight Edgar Berlanga. Check out some excerpts below.

Hearn on his thoughts on the Crawford vs Madrimov fight

“I was a little bit frustrated at the end. You know, I thought it was actually two 116-112s, I don’t see how you can only give Madrimov four rounds in that fight.

“115-113 is a close fight. I have to be honest, after 10 rounds I was convinced we were up and it’s an argument as to whether Crawford won 11, he definitely won 12. And you saw the way he came out in the 12th because they told him, I was right in the corner, they knew they had to win that last round, they knew how close that fight was.

“I was just a bit frustrated that it was a split or we didn’t get a little bit more respect. One of the judges had Crawford winning the last four rounds and the first four rounds, and I just don’t see that.”

On Canelo vs Berlanga going up against a UFC card

“I think it’s a different audience and I think Canelo’s a massive star.”

On who he wants Madrimov to fight next

“I like the Tim Tszyu fight, I like the Ortiz fight, Fundora, Spence. I think he’s earned the right now to be involved in big fights.”
