In a surprise move, Tyson Fury refused to look Oleksandr Usyk in the eyes during their face-off today at the final press conference ahead of Saturday’s undisputed heavyweight fight in Riyadh.

Fury looked like a nervous wreck during the press conference, completely intimidated by Usyk. He couldn’t meet Usyk’s gaze and looked like someone with stage fright. This bashful move on Fury’s part angered fans on X, many of them feeling like their hero realises he’s out of his league.

Nervous Nelly Fury: A Shadow of His Former Self

Fans on social media believe WBC champion Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) was afraid to look into the eyes of the tiger, Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), knowing what’s in store for him on Saturday night in their undisputed clash. The way Usyk looked, like cat-like, ready to pounce.

This ain’t a good look for Fury, who has lost the swagger that he once had. I can’t I’m surprised because when you look at Fury’s soft opposition he’s been fighting since his one big win over Klitschko, this is a much different beast he’s facing on Saturday.

Fury looked nervous throughout, and not the old guy that people had remembered him for. Some believe that the thrashing that Fury took in his last fight against the novice Francis Ngannou took away the confidence that he once had.

Of course, then there’s the delays for this fight, and the mysterious cut that Fury sustained that made some fans believe that he’s afraid of the IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk.
