Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, is concerned that Tyson Fury will lose focus again after he loses on Saturday, which will prevent a rematch.

Fury’s History of Losing His Focus

Krassyuk points out that Fury lost focus after his fight with Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 and was out of the ring for almost three years. That was Fury’s reaction for his biggest career win in his 16-year pro career.

So, if that was how Fury dealt with his best victory, how would he deal with a defeat on Saturday night in his undisputed heavyweight championship against IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk?

The concern here is that if Fury mentally implodes after his loss to Usyk, he could disappear off the grid and hole up to hide. That’s the shame reaction some people have after dealing with a failure, especially one that involves embarrassment.

What could be more humiliating than being seen getting dominated by Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) on Saturday night?

The Fury Spiral: Why Rematch May Not Happen

  • The Love of Food
  • Drowning his sorrows
  • Disappearing after loss
  • Lack of Dedication

Will it ruin Fury mentally, leaving him a broken man, turning to food and drink for solace? Or will he pick himself up, reject drowning his sorrow, and get back to work like normal, hard-working people do on a daily basis?

Fury has never been a dedicated person when it comes to hard work, and he definitely likes a good meal. Some people, when they’re dealing with a life setback, turn to food. Could we see Fury eat himself to 300+ lbs after a loss to Usyk, ruining the chances for a rematch?

Krassyuk’s Concerns: A Fury Meltdown Could Derail the Rematch

“With Tyson, it happened before. It happened with Klitschko, it happened with Wilder and it might happen with anyone. Do you know what my biggest concern is? Tyson, after he loses, he might lose his focus again, and that might be the reason why the rematch doesn’t take place,” said promoter Alex Krassyuk to iFL TV on how a loss by Tyson Fury to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night could get in the way of a rematch taking place immediately.

“He will probably be willing to get his fame back after May 18th. Do you know any draws that end in KO?” said Krassyuk, hinting that Usyk plans on knocking out Fury to ensure the judges don’t have a say so in the outcome on Saturday night.
