Promoter Frank Warren isn’t sure what Tyson Fury will do as far as taking a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk after losing to him last Saturday night. Warren says he’ll wait for Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to call him and let him know what he wants to do.

Financial Incentive for Rematch

With the money that the dethroned former WBC heavyweight champion Fury can get fighting undisputed champ Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) in a rematch, it’s impossible not to see the soon-to-be 36-year-old Gypsy King facing him again.

Tyson is already filthy rich, but it’s hard to say no when he can fatten his bank account by tens of millions fighting Usyk and hope to turn things around the second time.

Fury needs a win over Usyk to pick up his golden ticket for a lucrative clash against Anthony Joshua. That’s where the big dough comes in for Fury, as he’ll make untold riches fighting Usyk, not that his rematch with Usyk won’t pay well.

The money Fury can get fighting AJ is out of this world good, and I think at this point, that’s the main reason he’s still in the sport. Making generational dough despite his skills having eroded badly to the point where he’s just a shell of the fighter he’d been in his prime.

The Rematch Decision: Fury’s Call

“He said if he thought that was the scoring and he’d known the scoring, he would have stepped it up a bit. He won the last round,” said promoter Frank Warren to Charlie Parson’s channel, talking about Tyson Fury not aware that he was behind against Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night.

Fury should have known that he was in trouble after being hurt in the ninth round by Usyk, and being given a standing eight count by the referee.

That reality is Fury couldn’t step it up. He was sluggish the entire fight, and the only reason he wasn’t knocked out was due to the referee saving him in the ninth.

“That’s up to him,” said Warren when asked if Fury will take the rematch with Usyk next. “He’s been in training camp since December, six months solid.

“How many fighters do that? That’s what he’s been doing with the postponement. When Tyson is ready, he’ll phone up and say what he wants to do.”
