Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’s assistant coach, Kenny Ellis, claims he can outbox Vasily Lomachenko if he wants to, but he will knock him out. The two lightweight champions are negotiating to meet in a unification fight in November on PPV.

WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis’s boxing ability is seen as his weakness. He falls behind in every fight and relies on his power to bail him out.

Tank’s power is the only thing keeping him afloat in his career. Without that, he will be embarrassed by Lomachenko and any other top lightweight. He won’t try to box Loma because he’ll lose every round.

Davis was even outboxed by Leo Santa Cruz and Frank Martin, taking a lot of punishment from both fighters before scoring one-punch knockouts. You can’t just say it’s laziness on Tank’s part in absorbing all that punishment in his fights.

In reality, the Baltimore native Tank (30-0, 28 KOs) has never developed his boxing skills, and one reason for that is coaching. As the saying goes, ‘Junk in, junk out.’

When you have subpar coaches, you get a fighter that relies on their power rather than skills like Tank. That’s why his only chance of beating IBF lightweight champion Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) is by knocking him out.

If Tank got a clue, he would ditch his coaches and get some quality guys to train him, but it might be too late.

Psychological Warfare: Lomachenko Fans’ Tactic

Kenny says  Lomachenko fans are trying to lure Tank into a trick by tricking him with psychology. They say Tank can win by boxing and can only be victorious by knocking out the talented fighters.

Ellis feels the fans are encouraging Tank to prove them wrong by boxing rather than slugging, but that will not work.

“Gervonta Davis can outbox Lomachenko but no. We’re going to knock his a** out so take that psychology somewhere else,” said Kenny Ellis on Instagram, claiming that Gervonta Davis can outbox Vasily Lomachenko if he wants to.

“When you hear Lomachenko fans and Gervonta critics say the only way Gervonta Davis can beat Lomachenko is by knockout. That’s because they really want Gervonta Davis to prove them wrong by boxing Lomachenko because they really don’t want Gervonta to bring that smoke.

“That psychology don’t work over here. In boxing, you have to recognize tricky psychology when you hear it,” said Ellis.
