Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis says he’ll fight Ryan Garcia again at 140. Davis welcomes a second fight with Ryan (25-1, 20 KOs) and isn’t abandoning him with all the abuse he’s taking from his reported positive PED tests from his fight against Devin Haney.

Davis Offers Second Chance

It’s a classy gesture by Tank Davis, extending a helping hand to Ryan, not caring about the flak he’ll receive from some who want to treat him like a pariah and ostracize him.

Ryan is arguably the most popular fighter in North America, perhaps even eclipsing Canelo Alvarez in popularity.

“145? He’s not even at 145. Why can’t it be at 140?” said Gervonta Davis to Cigar Talk about a rematch with Ryan Garcia. “I’ll fight him at 140.”

The weight could be a sticking point in a rematch between Tank and Ryan. However, if Tank is willing to accept a little extra money to accommodate Ryan coming in a little heavier at 143-145, this fight can still happen.

Look at it like this: The money Tank will make fighting Ryan Garcia in a rematch will be a lot more than he’ll get fighting guys like Frank Martin or whoever else at 135.

Even Vasily Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson won’t bring Tank the kind of money he can make in a rematch. So it doesn’t make sense for Tank to draw a line in the same, saying ‘Either 140 or not fight.’

The reality is Ryan is too big at this stage of his career to melt down to 140. He’s filling out, and he likes to eat, as you can see from watching his videos. He’s constantly shuffling food in his mouth during videos, and he admits that he likes to drink on occasion.

PED Allegations and Potential Suspension

It’s still unknown if Ryan will be facing a suspension over his failed tests. He says he’s going to fight it, and try and clear his name. If he is suspended, he could be out for a while. That would push his rematch with Tank into next year if there is one.

If Ryan does receive a suspension for his PED tests, the rematch with Tank will have to wait. Again, Ryan has vowed to fight it to clear his name, but it could be tough. If he’s blocked from fighting over this, it could delay a rematch against Tank or someone else.
