Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis chose not to grace the media with his presence for today’s grand arrivals in Las Vegas for his fight against Frank Martin on Saturday night on PBC on Prime Video Pay-Per-View.
Tank’s absence today cast a shadow over the promotion, making some fans question whether he’ll show up on Saturday.
Fans Roast Tank on Social Media
Fans on social media felt that Tank was unprofessional for not showing up for the grand arrival and only wanted to do the bare minimum to promote his event.
His trainer, Calvin Ford, was left on stage, clearly lost for words, putting a spin on why his fighter, WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Tank Davis, blew off this important promotional media event. Ford’s excuses fell flat.
Earlier today, Tank told his Twitter followers he wouldn’t attend the grand arrivals because the event promotion was “a**.”
What’s interesting about that comment is that Tank is complaining about the promotion, yet he skipped out on an important event to promote his fight.
Tank doesn’t want to take responsibility for helping to promote his event because he should have done more interviews and posted on social media.
Coach Ford Scrambles for Explanations
“A lot of stuff on his mind,” said coach Calvin Ford to the media, explaining why Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis failed to show up for the grand arrivals today for his fight this Saturday night against Frank Martin.
Ford’s excuses sounded so lame, and they did nothing to pacify the angry fans on social media, who were lighting into Tank.
“That’s my young un. I’m going to support him and stand beside him because that’s what we’re supposed to do. Everybody goes through a lot of ups and downs. I don’t know what’s going on with him right now. It’s not a bad thing,” Ford continued about Tank Davis.
The Show Must Go On Without Tank
“Right now, he probably needed some peace. It’s been 14 months. That’s a while for not being in the ring, and he wanted to make sure he did the right thing for his fans because that’s what he’s been doing.
“The model we’ve always had is you support us, and we’ll fight for you, and we’ve been doing that,” said Ford.
