Eddie Hearn tells Brian Norman to come unify with Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis next.

Following Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis strong showing against Eimantas Stanionis over the weekend, he and his Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn appeared at the post-fight press conference to talk about what comes next when reporters asked them about a Brian Norman fight.

Boots started off by saying that Norman is just using his name for clout but has showed what he’s really about by previously turning down a seven-figure offer to fight for $150k before Hearn chimed in to tell Norman to step up to the plate.

“After a performance like that — no, no, we don’t take less money, we take more money,” Hearn said about making a Boots vs Norman fight. “So the other guys — they’ll get paid — but they have to show some ambition. It’s just ‘money, money, money, money.’ What about trying to be #1 in the division? Guys like Brian Norman and all these guys. With all due respect to Brian Norman, he just boxed for about $150,000 on the undercard of Mikaela Mayer vs Sandy Ryan at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas.

“If we go back to the Wells Fargo now to unify again, (Boots) will fill the whole place, 18-19,000, unquestionably. So there’s money in the pot but you’ve got to show ambition as well.”

Hearn on who’s a tougher fight to make for Boots between Mario Barrios and Brian Norman

“I heard Barrios is talking about fighting Manny Pacquiao. What’s all that about?! Brian Norman, for me, I spoke to Bob Arum during the week, he made it clear to me they want to try to make that fight. There’s probably close to 10x the biggest payday of Brian Norman’s career to fight Boots Ennis. If you don’t want to get in the ring you might as well retire from the sport, ‘cause what’s it all about?

“That kind of payday to fight the very best in the sport and prove yourself as a P4P great. So stop with Twitter, stop with Instagram, grow a set of balls and come be in one of the biggest fights in the sport…Let’s make it happen.”
