Ryan Garcia posted a video today on his social media site showing what appears to be Former undisputed lightweight world champion Davin Haney throwing a punch at some person during a fairground altercation.
Garcia quickly criticized Haney for failing to drop a civilian and how his team jumped in immediately. He didn’t didn’t like how Haney’s team jumped against one guy.
Ryan added on X that Haney (31-0 15 KOs) had talked of “being a great role model” in the past. “I wonder what the commission would do if I fought someone and it was caught on camera. The thing is, he punches so soft that maybe they will let it slide and call it play-fighting.”
Ryan Garcia Offers to Train Haney’s Victim
Garcia added that he wants someone to find the victim of Haney’s punch so that he can teach him some moves on how to “defeat” him next time. Ryan wants to show him how to throw a left hook, as that’s the kryptonite on how to beat Devin.
In their fight on April 20th, Ryan repeatedly dropped Haney with left hooks, putting him down seven times, but the referee only counted three.
It’s unclear what started the altercation. Were words exchanged that led to the punch? Did the civilian attempt to throw a punch at Haney? It’s hard to know because the video is too short, and you can’t hear what was said.
All we can see is Haney, wearing baggy clothes, throwing a punch, and then quickly walking away while what appears to be one of his friends starts fighting the civilian.
Potential Rematch on the Horizon
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh revealed today that he’s interested in setting up a rematch between Ryan Garcia and Haney after Ryan’s suspension ends early next year.
He couldn’t even drop a civilian
Also you talked about being a great role model
You really punched someone while your whole team jumps one guy sounds pretty diddy to me https://t.co/zWRgyRGbQA
