Tyson Fury has another opportunity to score a win over Oleksandr Usyk this December.

As Tyson Fury prepares to avenge his first professional loss when he rematches Oleksandr Usyk on Dec. 21, his promoter Frank Warren tells Sky Sports that Fury will be entering this sequel with the mentality to conclusively beat Usyk by knocking him out. Warren says Fury’s learned lessons from the loss and will come better this time.

“His mentality is he’s got to knock him out to win,” Warren told Sky Sports. “So it’s going to be exciting.”

“He knows what he did wrong,” Warren said. “It was a fight of two halves and at one stage in the seventh round I genuinely thought he was going to stop him in the next round.”

Warren continued by saying that while Fury had seemingly been on the verge of stopping Usyk, it was a big shot from Usyk that caught Fury on the nose which put an abrupt halt to Fury’s focus and momentum. That, however, is something Fury has learned from, as Warren explains.

The Queensberry promoter would also mention that in visiting both fighters locker rooms after their first fight, it was clear to him that Usyk was in worse physical condition than Fury even despite being the winner. Therefore Warren expects Fury to use his boxing IQ to make the adjustments to get his man over the hump this time around, although he’s well aware that Usyk is a smart fighter too, who will also be better prepared due to his experience in the ring.
