Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter shares his reaction to his fighter’s latest undisputed win.

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk spent some time talking to the media about his fighter’s big win to become undisputed yet again. During the media session Krassyuk says he had Usyk winning pretty clearly on his personal scorecard, and believes the referee stole a stoppage win from Usyk. Check out some excerpts of what he had to say below.

Krassyuk on the Fury vs Usyk result

“For me, I had the impression that Usyk won seven rounds. That was my personal scorecard which I consider to be pretty precise throughout 20 years, minus one point for the deduction for the knockdown. So not even that close, I would suggest.

“I think the ref actually saved Tyson from a knockout and he stole the 9th round knockout which should have been happening.”

On Usyk’s supposedly suffering a jaw injury during the fight

“There’s nothing new, it’s an old one but needs to be analyzed not to swell too much…nothing really major but the procedure [scans] has to be done.

“No, it’s not a broken jaw…I told you, this is nothing new. It’s an old stuff he had long time before.”

On if the contracted rematch is on pace to take place by October

“No doubts about it.”

On what Usyk’s win means to the people of Ukraine

“This is a very sensitive issue for all Ukranians. Usyk fought three fights after the Russian invasion started. I don’t want to speak too much about what’s going on. Everyone knows the horrible war is taking place in Ukraine and people are suffering — a lot of people are suffering.

“Usyk is the icon for new generations, for current generations, he is the icon, the example for children. Many people think he’s one of the most recognized personalities in sports and out of sports in Ukraine, and probably one of the most respected. And this is well-deserved because his achievements in sports is something that you can’t find really often…the guy has completed everything possible.”
