Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, says he wants Tyson Fury’s dad, “Old man” John Fury, to apologize to the member of their team for head-butting him today.
Krassyuk says he initially thought one of his team members had done the head-butting, which resulted in 59-year-old John Fury suffering a cut on his forehead. However, after watching the video of the incident, he realized it was John who was the culprit. Now, he wants the senior citizen to apologize.
Krassyuk states that it’s a bad look for the two teams to be involved in these kinds of things leading up to Saturday’s heavyweight undisputed championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The guy that John head-butted from Team Usyk says he was only saying, “Usyk, Usyk, Usyk” and not acting aggressively.
Krassyuk Calls for Class and Dignity
“Hey John, old man. Let’s behave like the father of the champion, who has a chance to become undisputed,” said Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk to iFL TV about his message to John Fury after he head-butted one of his team members today.
“It would be good if John Fury brings his apology for that kind of behavior. We are the people from the diamond of professional boxing. The whole world is watching us and we have to perform at the highest level of behavior.”
If John is going to be a problem this week during the press conference and weigh-in, His Excellency bars him from the event so that he doesn’t act out again when he sees something from Team Usyk that riles him. John needs a good ban if he can’t keep his temper in check or a time-out.
“He said, ‘Never touch my boys. They are too dangerous,” said Krassyuk on what Usyk said about the head-butting incident.
“I had the [initial] impression that it was one of my guys [that did the head-butting], but after I saw the video, I realized it was not that way,” said Krassyuk.
