Hamzah Sheeraz has a fight scheduled for September 21, but has an eye towards a future fight.
Hamzah Sheeraz is scheduled to contend for a European title when he takes on Tyler Denny on the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois undercard, and tells Sky Sports that he believes he’s nearing a shot a full world title. Sheeraz expects to get that title in 2025, but is currently targeting a big domestic fight with Chris Eubank Jr. in the meanwhile.
“He’s the biggest name in the 160lb division. He did an interview not long ago and he said I’m not big enough for him to fight yet. I get that maybe a fight ago,” Sheeraz said. “But now I’m in that prime position where the public are asking for the fight. And I think if that fight got announced maybe in the UK, MEN or O2 Arena, it’s an easy sell-out and it would definitely be a fight that could be an eliminator or for an Interim ‘He’s the biggest name in the 160lb division’: Sheeraz targeting fight with Eubank Jr.”
Sheeraz doesn’t hide the fact that he’s particularly targeting Eubank Jr, and goes on to say if Eubank Jr isn’t looking to fight him because his profile isn’t quite big enough, he expects to force his hand by snagging a title to make the bout more enticing.
Before any of that can happen, however, Sheeraz will need to handle his business against Denny who he’ll face in just a couple of weeks time, and something Sheeraz expects to be his biggest challenge thus far. That said, Sheeraz believes he’s levels above Denny’s most recent opponents and expects that to show on fight night.
