Lawrence Okolie expects to perform better now that he’ll no longer have to concern himself with making weight.

As Lawrence Okolie continues to eye a run in the heavyweight division, Queensbury have announced that he’s now signed with the company, headed by promoter Frank Warren. Under Warren, Okolie hopes to win a world title in third weight class, although he’ll have to get through some pretty stern competition in order to do so.

“If you are a heavyweight in Britain or the world, it is the Warrens,” Okolie said. “They’ve got the best up and coming heavyweights, the best current heavyweights and the best who are on their way out.

“I am a natural for the weight, right from being on the GB team. I have been struggling with making weight but, when you have success, you keep on pushing it. I even had to come down to make bridgerweight, so I knew it was time to go up.”

Warren would add that he believes adding Okolie will help fuel the success of his company in a marquee division and believes he’ll perform even better without the burden of needing to cut weight.
