Jose Valenzuela takes on ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on the Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov undercard this weekend.
On this weekend’s undercard for the Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov fight, Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela will be stepping into the ring against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and is expected to have his hands full at the very least. Speaking to Fight Hub TV about the fight, Valenzuela says he knows Pitbull will attempt to overwhelm him with pressure and power punches but that he’ll be prepared to deal with that.
Valenzuela on how he’s feeling for this fight against ‘Pitbull’ Cruz
“I’m extremely excited, you know, the moment I’ve been waiting for. This is it right here, for all the marbles, this is for the lottery, this is for everything.
“I’ve been envisioning it everyday since I got the call. It’s going to be fireworks. He’s going to come hard and I have to fire back very precisely.”
On how he plans to slow down Cruz
“Making him miss and making him pay. You make a guy miss and you hurt him, he’s going to think twice about throwing them overhands.”
On what he saw in Cruz’s face when they met in person
“He’s tense. He’s real tense, he’s angry or whatever but that’s going to work against him in the ring.”
On the Crawford vs Madrimov main event
“I think that’s a great fight. Israil, you can’t overlook him. He’s determined, he’s dedicated, and he’s going to come to fight. But Crawford right now, I believe he’s in his prime and he’s very tactical and very precise so I’m going to have to go with Crawford.”
