Miguel Madueno will step in to face Oscar Duarte on February 15.
Miguel Madueno has been officially announced as Oscar Duarte’s new opponent for a Feb. 15 main event on DAZN, replacing the injured Regis Prograis.
The 26-year-old “Explosivo” has lost two of his last three, but is a scrapper and realistically about the best Golden Boy were going to be able to do on under two weeks’ notice.
“In this sport, you never know when that call will come, that’s why I stay ready,” said Madueño. “This isn’t an easy fight, but that’s exactly why I do this. Boxing isn’t just what I do; it’s who I am. I live it, breathe it, and right now, I’m hungry to get back in the win column.
“Oscar Duarte is a tough challenge, and I respect him for taking me on as a late replacement. But I’m not going to Anaheim to test my luck, I’m going to win. I’m going to fight, throw everything I’ve got, and prove that nothing great happens without taking your best shot.”
Madueno (31-3, 28 KO) lost to Steve Claggett in Nov. 2023 and Keyshawn Davis in July 2024, which was his most recent bout. Between those fights, he won a split decision over Justin Pauldo on ProBox TV.
Duarte (28-2-1, 22 KO) is coming off of a couple of solid wins in 2024 over Joseph Diaz Jr and Batyr Akhmedov, following a late 2023 loss to Ryan Garcia.
