Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke have a face-to-face conversation leading into their upcoming sequel.
Closing in on the October 12 rematch between Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke, both fighters appeared for a sit down conversation for DAZN’s Face Off. Wardley and Clarke both fought to a grueling draw in their first meeting, and are set to run it back with both wanting to ensure a conclusive ending on their respective behalfs. Here’s some of what both fighters had to say with the full video video at the top.
Clarke on whether he has more respect for Wardley now after their first 12 round battle
“I never didn’t respect Fabio. We didn’t have a relationship beforehand but we’re in British boxing, we see each other at shows — it’s never been the case of being disrespectful towards him, I respect what he’s done. Just the same as any competitor, he’s got something that I wanted.”
Wardley on why he thinks he wins a rematch
“I’m the younger, the fresher fighter. There’s more attributes to my game which I can advance, which I can improve on to bring in the next fight. I think he’s coming from the very strong, well-schooled ABA, GB background. He’s boxed that same way, similar style for a good 10, 15, however many years of how they drill you to box.”
Clarke on his advantages going into the rematch
“I think I’m more teachable to Fabio, I think I can adapt better than Fabio, I definitely think I’m not as naive or as cocky as Fabio. Fabio thinks he’s world level when the reality is a guy with a handful of pro fights he couldn’t beat.”
