Caleb Plant is focused on taking care of Armando Resendiz before turning his attention to what’s next.

With Caleb Plant returning to action this weekend against Armando Resendiz in a stay-busy fight, he spends a few minutes talking to boxing media about how he’s feeling heading into the bout, what he thinks of Resendiz, and fights he’s looking forward to after this one is out of the way. Here’s some of what Plant had to say…

Plant of feeling like he’s now the best version of himself

“This is definitely one of the best versions of myself, just hell of a training camp and with all the experience I have, it’ll show.”

On his opponent Resendiz and what he has in store for him

“Skills. If you check my last fight I got a great inside game, too. So if that’s what he wants I’m going to show him there’s levels.”

On those who criticize his sportsmanship

“I would say that Anthony Dirrell was talking way too much, he was being racist, he had shirts with my head cut off and planting me into the ground, saying he hates me and he’s had a lot of words for me for a lot of years so I haven’t heard too many people complain about the celebration who followed the lead up.”

On the best fight in the 168 division that doesn’t include Canelo

“I feel like there’s a lot of great fights out there, the ‘mall fight, Munguia, Berlanga, Pacheco, Sheeraz, Mbilli — all those fights are big fights for me and any one of them can fight each other and it will not be as big a fight as if any of them fought me, and that’s a fact.”

On where things stand in his beef with Jermall Charlo

“Right now all that’s on the backburner for me. I’m just focused on Saturday, can only fight one fight at a time and that fight don’t happen without me getting my hand raised in this fight. So right now I’m locked in on that, put everything else on the backburner, and once I get my hand raised May 31st, Saturday, we’ll have plenty of time to talk about it, plenty of time to think on all that but right now I’m focused.”
