Eimantas Stanionis ready to test his skill against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis on April 12.
Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) talks to Fight Hype about his upcoming welterweight title fight with Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) on April 12 in Atlantic City. While fielding questions Stanionis reacts to the matchup, being the underdog, and talks about wanting to find out how good he really is. Here’s some of what Stanionis had to say with the full video interview at the top.
“For sure, he’s very skillful fighter like everybody says he his, like new big thing,” Stanionis said of Boots. “And everybody, like all the media, all the people, trainers, everybody speaking highly of him and that’s true. He’s a really good fighter, I’m not a stupid person not to see that. I know he’s good, tough, and everything. Full package, basically, but I’m also not like a slouch, you know.
“I’ll do my best, that’s for sure. I have that mentality, and like I always say, boxing is unpredictable sport. Another thing is like he has two hands, two legs, same [as] me. If you believe in yourself, work, sacrifice, everything do right — I’m not partying, not drinking, not doing crazy stuff — I’m living boxing 24/7.
“I’m very confident because I’m training and I want to show that everything is [possible]. This fight is not for anybody else, this fight is especially for me because I want to see what level I am. Maybe I’m not on his level, I don’t know, but I will go there and I will come to fight, that’s for sure. The fans will get excitement from me.”
