Teofimo Lopez took to social media today to complain about Top Rank, saying he’s “too expensive” for them and blaming the chairman, Todd Debouf.

Lopez claims that Duboef hasn’t “liked” him and his father since 2018, which is why he hasn’t been getting the important matches he desires. Fans see this as more of a case of Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) failing to perform.

He lost to George Kambosos Jr. and has struggled in many fights since moving to 140 in 2022. Increasingly, he sounds wacky with his rants on social media, talking about this and that.

Teofimo says he wants his “buyout number.” That’s something he already asked for in a recent post on X.

Past Performance

WBO light welterweight champion Lopez, 27, wants fights against Devin Haney, Terence Crawford, Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. However, these fights have been unattainable thus far. He’s not popular enough to get them, and his many lackluster performances in the last four years have contributed to this.

Lopez looked like 24k gold in the first four years of his career from 2016 to 2020, but he’s failed to perform at the same level since 2021. It’s clear to fans that Teofimo was fool’s gold from the get-go, and he was never as good as the public thought.

His narrow win over an injured, one-armed, older, and much smaller Vasily Lomachenko was the watershed moment in Teo’s career. It’s been all downhill since with his fights against these guys:

– Steve Claggett
– Jamaine Ortiz
– Josh Taylor
– Sandor Martin
– Pedro Campa
– George Kambosos Jr.

Top Rank has been keeping Teofimo’s head above the waterline by how they’ve matched him in the last four years. If they had put him in fights with some of the killers that he’s been whining about, he’d have lost many times and would be useless to them. He pretty much is, anyway. Teofimo’s comments outside of the ring make him hard to like, and some fans question his sanity.
